race history
The history of the race goes back to 2014. Until 2016 it was called GP of Izola. The goal was to connect all four coastal municipalities of Izola, Koper, Piran and Ankaran. With the growth of the brand Slovenska Istra, we managed to connect with all the municipalities and the race got a new name, “Velika nagrada Slovenske Istre” (GP Slovenian Istria). In 2023, we are proud to add powered by I feel Slovenia to the name of the event.

rACE COURSE - LINK
The start of the event will take place at the Cankarjev drevored towards the shipyard. At the roundabout turn right onto the Prešernova rad and at the next roundabout to the left on Kajuhova Street. The route runs along Kajuhova, followed by the ascent to Livade - Baredi - Gažon. At the intersection in Šmarje, turn right onto the state road. This road leads to Dragonja, where we turn to road 628 to the border crossing Sečovlje, where we connect to the 111th road. After this, the route runs to the top of the ascent to Belvedere, where we turn left for the descent from Jagodje to Izola. At the roundabout of Prešernova, Južna and Morova Street, turn left and then quick right along Morova street, on Dantejeva street and continue to Drevored 1. maja and to Cankarjev drevored to the finish line. The race will do three such laps. On the sketch marked with magenta.
The three laps are followed by the fourth, the connecting lap, which is equal to the first three laps, only in Izola the final is changed because in this lap the direction of arrival through the finish line is reversed. Everything goes the same way to the roundabout of Prešernova, Južna and Morova street in Izola. This time we do not turn left to Morova, but continue through Prešernova to the roundabout with Kajuhova, where we turn right to Kajuhova street. Then we continue along Kajuhova to the overpass across the highway, then immediately turn left onto Livade - Polje road to the main road towards the Izola hospital. At the intersection with the main road, we turn left, across the Ruda - Polje connection, to the roundabout at Butan Plin, where we turn right onto the Cankarjev drevored to the finish line. Final part of lap 4 on the sketch marked with black.
For the finish we have three short laps: Cankarjev drevored - Drevored 1. maja - Dantejeva - Morova - Prešernova - Kajuhova - overpass across the AC, then left on the Livade-Polje road to the main road towards the Izola hospital. At the intersection with the main road we turn left, across the Ruda - Polje connection, to the roundabout at Butan Plin, where we turn right onto the Cankarjev drevored to the finish line.
